Essencial da Lapa is fairly new to the night scene in Rio, and is part of the recent revitalization of the historic center. The establishment is not just a bar, but is a charming and lively tavern that features cold beer along with live music and some good food, to boot. Most of their menu items are regional foods from the Northeast. Some of the house specialties include Batata, Caldo de Camarao, Mistura Essencial and Provolone a Milanesa.
