Casa da Arte e Cultura Julieta Serpa is a charming coffee house and restaurant located in an equally charming 19th century mansion. It’s since been converted into this restaurant and the attached cultural center. Without question, it offers the best French food available in Rio. The food tends to be expensive but is delicious. While you’re there try their coffee and the excellent French tea. If you’re a bold eater, you’ll love the rabbit with black olive risotto. The J-Club Piano bar hosts jazz and bossa nova artists. The BLASON is the main French restaurant. Although very expensive, food and service are superb. A very reasonable option is the BS Bistro, which has has executive prices during lunch and has just changed its menu. The Bistro is very cozy, ideal for a date, and has the atmosphere of a true Bistro in Paris or the country-side of France. The service is impeccable.
