Booking a Hotel in Brazil
Brazil is a major tourist destination for travelers from all over the world. With that said, there are many luxury resorts, business hotels and one and two star hotels for the tourist visiting Brazil to choose from.
Most of the larger cities such as Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia and Sao Paulo have a fairly variety of hotels to choose from. When selecting a hotel in one of these cities, location and cost are usually the most important factors in making a decision. If you plan on taking public transportation or walking to the attractions select a hotel in the center of the city. Brazil has 5 star luxury resorts that are located in the downtown areas of the major cities as well as the outskirts and rural areas. Keep in mind that some of the lower end hotels, while cheap, might not be in the most desirable locations.
Rio Hotel Accommodations
If you are looking for Hotels accommodations In Rio de Janeiro, you will probably want to stay where most of the hotels are, which means Copacabana. You may also opt to stay at chic Ipanema and Leblon, two upscale neighborhoods are not far from Copacabana either. Other options include Downtown Rio area comprising the neighborhoods of Lapa, Centro, Flamengo, Catete, Gloria and Botafogo. These last options are a bit far from the beaches – 15 minutes by subway – but you would be paying half of the price for the same class of hotel. If saving is not your priority, we recommend to stay nowhere else than Copacabana or Ipanema. It makes it all so convenient…
Rio Hotels during Carnival and New Years Celebrations
If you are looking for Rio de Janeiro accommodations during Rio Carnival or for the New Years in Rio celebrations, all hotels require a minimum stay of 4 to 7 nights, with prices that are normally three or four times the practice. Try to Stay in Copacabana and Ipanema is the rule again, but keep in mind that, with such expensive hotel accommodations packages in Rio, you’re going to save a lot of money when looking for a hotel in the so called Downtown area. Again, that means staying in Centro, Flamengo, Catete, Gloria and Botafogo. During Rio Carnival and on New years eve night, we recommend to use the safe Rio Metro subway which is air-conditioned and works around the clock. You will be on the beach in no time at all.
Ecologic Lodges and Countryside Accommodations
When searching for a hotel room in the rainforests or other less developed areas of Brazil you will need to adjust your perspective. Lodgings in the rainforest are either quite primitive or rustically luxurious. Do not expect flat screen TVs, marble showers or high pile carpets in the rooms. Usually, the hotels are made of local materials with very few amenities. A mosquito net, thatched roof and wood floors are considered the height of luxury. However, that is half the fun as being in the rainforest means getting back to nature.
