Visitors to Rio have many different accommodations available. Hotels, motels, resorts, bed and breakfasts and hostels are all available throughout the country. Yet none of these has the advantages of renting an apartment for your stay. Further, there are many different levels of luxury with prices to suit every budget. Deciding to rent an apartment for a vacation can seem to be a daunting task. First, you have to find apartments in your vacation location. The next task is finding an apartment that is affordable with all the amenities you require.

Advantages of Apartments

Renting an apartment for your stay in Rio is like bringing your house with you on your travels. You are not committed to one small hotel room. Instead, you have several rooms to move around. Apartments provide the space to bring friends and acquaintances over for a visit.  In addition, with your own kitchen you can cook all your meals which will work out to be much cheaper than eating out all the time. Many apartments are located in residential neighborhoods so you have the joy of living with the locals instead of living as a tourist.

Where To Find Apartments for Rent

Vacation rentals are available all over Brazil. Wherever there are apartments, visitors can usually find apartments for rent on a short-term basis. Rio has apartments for travelers in Copacabana, Ipanema and the Leblon neighborhoods. You can find Sao Paulo apartments for rent in the residential neighborhoods of Jardins, Consolacao or Cerqueira Cesar. Even a small fishing village like Buzios has apartments on Geriba beach, Ferradura and Centro.  Perhaps the only place you cannot find an apartment for rent is in the middle of the rainforest.

The Cost Factor

One of the biggest arguments for not renting an apartment during a vacation is the cost.  Realistically the average apartment is no more expensive than a mid-range hotel.  Of course, renting a luxury penthouse suite will cost a bit more, but all in all, they are all very affordable.  Look at it this way- the money saved by cooking for yourself can be used for an extra day’s vacation or that adventure excursion into the rainforest you were afraid you could not afford!

Luxury Apartments

While luxury apartments can be quite expensive they usually come with some wonderful amenities. Daily maid service may be included. There is usually some type of security entrance so only residents and authorized visitors can enter the apartment complex.  Luxury apartments usually have a pool, weight room, laundry service and a concierge to assist you in your travels. They are usually located in affluent neighborhoods where there are gourmet restaurants, couture boutiques and shopping centers.

Specialty Apartments

There are many apartments where you pay for the view. Some are on the beach with lovely views of the surf. Others look out over the mountains or sit beside a lake. Expect to pay extra for those rental properties with a spectacular view. Other apartments can be more expensive depending on the location. An apartment on Ipanema beach will be more expensive than the same apartment a few blocks away. The same is true for an apartment on a golf course versus an apartment on a residential street. It is up to you to set your priorities.

Our goal is to find an apartment that will suit your needs and your budget. We have taken the time to learn about the different neighborhoods in the cities of Brazil.
